My Apple affair

It is about a month now, I have invested on a new iMac 27″ and past week invested on iPhone 4, 32 GB model. It was a big change on my gadget  assets!  I recall my college days 17 years back, when I was studying my Electronics and Communication Engineering the word computer itself was a costly affair, even my college lab didn’t have a computer, but don’t surprise!  we still learned COBOL and PASCAL programming and passed the subject scoring above 60% marks. During those days Apple had a education partner in India,  few months course was costing about 14K INR. Frankly, though  I had lot of interest to take that course, financial limitation forced me to feel it as one of  a thing of far reach. 🙁  But I was sure Apple products were of class and they need lot money to get into!

Somehow, by profession I came in touch with computers  during 1995. Windows 3.1, MS DOS, Wordstar 3 were  few commercial applications where I started working on. I still remember having copied  Wordstar Installation files into 8 floppy disks from a close friend Mr. Dharmarajan Durairajan at Mumbai. Then my computer days moved on with windows 95, windows Me, XP, vista, now Windows 7. But from hardware front Dell made desktops and laptops occupied my desk most of the time.  My last Dell  Products were  Dell Studio 17″. (2008) and Dell Vostro  PC with 19″ LCD.  Even then my desire towards Apple never kept quite.

It was the iPhone that ensured my Apple dream after 14 years of computer experience. In the year 2008  dream came true with a used iPhone 2G 16GB and Used MacBook 14″ both cost me around 52k INR right here in India. Getting those used ones here In Chennai was a big task for me, had to google many times and  time was a essential factor to get into iPhone development. Virtually I felt it like  I have missed the OSX for a decade, virus & crash free environment.

But exactly after 2 years of use, both apple products started giving me hardware problems (my MacBook is dead now because of Logic board problem & iPhone has dead pixels). In order to continue my iPhone Development hobby.  I had to decide on Investing on a New iMac 27″ and new iPhone 4 32 GB, both costed me around 100K+40K INR. iMac includes 3 year warranty! Guess it was a intelligent decision and Mr.Vijay Kumar of Ample technologies suggested the best configuration.
As a matter of fact, it looks to be a costly affair between me and Apple! But not bad! My commercial apps have already paying me back.  Hope, my new commercial apps would make it more profitable in long run. 🙂 But strategically my opinion about  iPhone development is that…..Commercial success truly lies on the talent & past experience of Mac development platform, additionally  distribute applications on own account rather than coding for someone else as a outsourcing! The success of iPhone commercial apps also lies in creating useful app, which make the iPhone user to feel  of worth  having bought the iPhone by using such apps!!!

I presume I have done few!.  🙂 Happy iPhone Development.
