I have just upgraded my development MacBook to Snow leopard operating system and iPhone SDK 4.0 Beta, There are few interesting updates I have noticed in Snow Leopard as well the iPhone OS 4 Beta SDK. In one of earlier post, I did write about what is expected in OS4.0, which itself a boost for iPhone 3G and 3GS owners. For developers more than 1000 API includes to match iPad and iPhone OS 4.0 application developments.
Feedback wise, I did see some glitches in viewing iPhone SDK documentation after the updates, which seems to be enabled only for online access! is it so? As well, when I use external mouse in Finder application, The folder expansion behaves abnormally; no clues from me! any one experienced?
By the way there is a great news for iPhone users on the UNICODE support, In future, It may not be necessary for me to develop my Tamil iPhone applications based on Image rendering concept, otherwise the Simulation test and Development in Xcode along with Interface Builder now supporting Tamil Unicode.
For a proof I have did some combination evaluations using iPhone OS 3.2 and OS 4.0, both on Simulator, the iPhone Simulator OS 4works perfectly.(3.2 still has UNICODE issue). I guess the iPhone OS 4.0 release will enable users of Indian languages to see the unicode characters as it is and experience their mother language for the first time on mobile devices with clear rendering. It is an emotional factor for Indian users who use iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.
Luckily, my iPhone 3GS not yet shipped from USA, so I am waiting to see, how it is on the device with OS 4.0 !
Here are the screenshots of OS 3.2 and OS 4.0 and Tamil characters looks very neat! Voi-la, Cheers!
Note: iPhone OS 4.0 expected to hit the iTunes in US summer(After June), not in India summer. oops!!! we are already boiling!!
